EXPLORING THE FORSYTH FUTURES WEB SITE

The Forsyth Futures homepage is the portal to all of the features of the Forsyth Futures, providing access to the individual data components, charts, graphs and data which make up the 2006 and 2009 Making Progress Reports.  All features of the project are easily accessible throughout the website homepage and the sector headings at the top and bottom of each web page.  Click the title of the feature you want to explore. 

GENERAL NAVIGATION

The Forsyth Futures web site is categorized topically according to the 5 main focus areas covered in the Making Progress Reports.  They are Economic Self Sufficiency, Educational Success, Engaged Community, Physical and Mental Health, and Safety.  The entry point for each of these focus areas is located on the navigation bar located towards the top of each page. 

The Forsyth Futures tracks change and progress in 5 focus areas though approximately 50 individual measures or indicators.  Each focus homepage is the portal for the findings and analysis of the 2009 Forsyth Futures Report. 


In addition, ancillary topics related to Forsyth Futures can be seen in the top. The include recent publications, contact information, a glossary of terms used in this site, raw data used in this project, background information on Forsyth County and PDF versions of the 2006 and 2009 Making Progress Reports.   

 

These links appear in the top right of the web page.  Moving your mouse over each topic and clicking on the appropriate topic will take you to information about the topic.

You can reach any of the Focus Area Homepages by clicking on one of the five sector boxes in the header atop every page.  They can also be reached at the bottom of the page in the white headings.

Headings to navigate individual indicators

Each focus area comprises an extensive overview that includes the definition, metrics and results about what stakeholders and experts from Forsyth Futures and the results teams have identified as necessary for the 2009 Making Progress Report.  Beneath the Key Current Realities, users can view individual categories within each of the 5 sectors.  These individual categories comprise various sections within each focus area of the Making Progress report.  Under the Indicators / Measures, users can be linked to a web page with each these individual indicator.   

These individual indicators are comprised of 7 sections.  All information for an individual indicator is located on a single page.  Depending upon the indicator, all information can be seen within the view.  For most indicators, however, users will have to scroll down or use the headings to navigate to their particular information.   

The headings include the importance of the individual indicator, the metrics used to measure it, how Forsyth County measures in regards to this indicator, any figures or maps used to express this metrics and data credits, currentness or data and data sources.  It also include links to the latest Initiascapes for each indicator.  At this time, Initiascapes are available in PDF format.  There is a placeholder for other useful graphics, maps and tables that could not be integrated into the 2009 Making Progress report, but are shown here. 

 

 

TUTORIALS

A few tutorials are provided to help show users how to navigate various elements of this web site.  Provided are variety in different file formats.  If you have trouble viewing the files within the web page, you can Right Mouse Click on the Link and Select 'Save Target As' to view it on your computer.  Files sizes will vary, so please be patient when viewing or uploading.   Please note that the WMV files are a bit lower quality than the AVI and MPEG files to allow for easier downloading.
