Community Food System Assessment

In January 2013 Forsyth Futures released Released Forsyth County's Community Food System: A Foundation to Grow. The purpose of the study is to understand the economic and social benefits of food produced in Forsyth and the surrounding counties. As a result of the study Forsyth Futures and our partners will develop a strategy to maximize the potential of locally-produced food in our county.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Forsyth Futures will release The Forsyth County Community Food System: A Foundation to Grow at the end of January 2013. The goals of the study are to provide an objective assessment of the current local food system in Forsyth County, and to serve as a catalyst to maximize the impact of local foods.

The goals will be accomplished through the following objectives:

  1. Identify the elements of the local food system in Forsyth and surrounding counties.
  2. Understand challenges and successes of the current local food system.
  3. Provide examples of succesful elements in other food systems.
  4. Highlight potential actions to expand the positive impact of local foods.
