Adequate Yearly Progress

Definition: AYP is a measure, included in the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) act, which uses standardized tests to track academic performance of public schools and school systems. According to NCLB all students in public schools are expected to have achieved proficiency by the end of the 2013 – 2014 school year. In Forsyth County, Adequate Yearly Progress exams and End of Grade exams are the same standardized exam.
