Dropout Rate

Definition: State Board of Education policy (HSP-Q-001) defines dropout as “any student who leaves school for any reason before graduation or completion of a program of studies without transferring to another elementary or secondary school.” To calculate the dropout rate, a student who was enrolled during the previous year, but is not enrolled on the 20th day of the current school year is considered a drop out.
