We are pleased to share some examples of the exciting projects and events Forsyth Futures and other local organizations are engaged in to put community knowledge to work and assist residents and community organizations in in effectively collaborating to focus on issues, make decisions and take actions to improve the quality of life in Forsyth County, NC.

The Forsyth County Faith-Based Community Organization Community Engagement Snapshot

Designed as a springboard for community conversations and future research, the study is an initial attempt to capture the singular and collective capital of a sample of Forsyth County’s Faith-Based Community Organizations.

Forsyth’s homeless count lowest on record

Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines announced Tuesday that the county’s population of chronically homeless people has decreased 58 percent since 2005, according to the 2013 “Point in Time” count.

Third Annual Health Care Reform Conversation

Dr. Pam Silberman, president and CEO of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and publisher of the NCMJ, discussed “Implementing the Affordable Care Act in North Carolina: 2013 Update” today at the 3rd  Annual Health Care Reform Conversation, which was hosted by Forsyth Futures and HealthCare Access. Forsyth County growing its local-food movement

Forsyth County is well-poised for continued growth in the local food movement, according to a report released this week by Forsyth Futures, and residents surveyed for the report said the biggest step forward would be to get more locally grown food into grocery stores. Read the story here.

The Family-Level Advocacy for Exceptional Children & Youth Initiascape© is now available. Survey shows that Faith-based Community Organizations provide many services to Forsyth County residents

Forsyth Futures is collaborating with the Wake Forest School of Divinity to identify the ways in which Faith-Based Community Organizations (FBCOs) conduct outreach within the community. Preliminary analysis of the 87 responses collected through late December 2012 showed that 86 percent of congregations surveyed are involved in hunger ministries. Read more.
